Alpha Buddies

Typographic Children’s Book

Mission: Creating a childrens book with the goal to visually stimulate the reader with alphabet imagery. All imagery in the book is constructed of letterforms. The story is kid friendly with rhymes and an alphabet buddy that stimulates letter recognition and pheonetic sounds. The imagery aims to stimulate letter recognition for the reader aside from the storyline and main character. Each page is dedicated to one letter which forms the main buddy of that page. The letters found in the imagery prompts an opportunity for the reader to continuously engage with the book discovering a new letter as they advance in literacy. Patille’s background working in education with children embarking on their literacy journey influenced this project as an engaging way to gamify reading in young children.
